Group coursework is a core part of engineering education, but how teams are formed and how individual effort is recognised are long-standing sources of student dissatisfaction. This project develops a two-part toolkit. The first is a browser-based team-formation tool that takes a cohort's academic profiles and teammate preferences and produces equal-sized teams balanced on prior attainment, while avoiding leaving any student isolated by gender; it runs in the web browser, so student data are processed on the user's own device. The second is a contribution-attribution marking scheme, with a short guide for demonstrators, that credits each student's own documented contribution within a single group mark. Both were developed on the QMES transnational programme, and the team-formation tool has also been adopted on Queen Mary's Nanchang programme. Funded by the CREME Scholarship Support Fund 2025–26, the project is packaging the toolkit for use across SEMS modules, with evaluation of its first wider deployments planned for 2026–27.
