Research Overview

I have a multidisciplinary academic background centred on optical sensors and instrumentation, spanning over several disciplines. I undertook trainings in High-Voltage Engineering, Fibre Optics, Bioengineering and Chemistry at international institutions, where I obtained interdisciplinary research experience including working in St Mary’s Hospital London with surgeons to develop medical devices. In addition, I have been working with industry and these led to patents and research grants.

My current research is mainly concerned with optical sensors for diagnosis, imaging and monitoring. I have been leading a research team to develop optical devices and instruments. Particularly, I am interested in miniaturised portable optical sensors and fibre-optical devices for in-situ and remote diagnosis/monitoring for demanding applications such as in healthcare.
