Expertise: | My research aims to understand the relationships between structures and properties of functional materials including dielectrics, piezoelectric and ferroelectrics. By studying these relationships, we can design and develop materials with optimised properties for different applications. |

Brief Biography
Dr Haixue Yan received his Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering from Shanghai Institute of Ceramics, Chinese Academy of Sciences. He joined Queen Mary University of London (QMUL) in 2001. He is a Reader in Material Science and Engineering at QMUL. His research area includes: processing and analysis of the microstructures and properties of advanced materials with textured, nano- and metastable structures, covering dielectrics, ferroelectrics, thermoelectrics, ceramic-CNT composites and metals. His research has being funded by EPSRC, AHRC, Royal Society, Royal Academy of Engineering and industry. He has published >230 peer reviewed papers with an H index of 58 and has 9 patents. He is an Editorial Board Member of Materials Research Bulletin, Advances in Applied Ceramics, Scientific Reports and Journal of Advanced Ceramics.
