Research Overview

My current reaserch activity include the process and the characterization of structural and functional ceramics for different technological applications. Regarding structural ceramics, I am currently involved on the development of hard ceramics with superior antiballistic properties and on the upscaling of the Spark Plasma Sintering process with the purpose of producing large armour pieces. My research activities in the field of functional ceramics are focused on the development of ferroelectric and antiferroelectric devices for energy storage applications and on the mechanisms of ferroelastic/ferroelectric switching. Other research interests include the effect of carbon nanotubes on the sintering behaviour of ceramics and the understanding of the sintering behaviour of tungsten, with the purpose of producing nanostructured tungsten using SPS.
