Experimental set up for recording tendon mechanics during trainingEccentric loading involves working muscles as they are extending in length. It is the most effective non-surgical treatment for Achilles tendinopathy, but the mechanisms through which is facilitates tendon repair remain unknown.
This project is an in vivo analysis of tendon mechanics during eccentric loading, to determine how the loading parameters and tendon strain differ in ecccentric loading compared to other exercise modalities, and thus determine how to improve efficacy of this treatment.
