Supervisor: | Prof Karin Hing |
Expertise: | As personalised medicine continues to grow in demand, Suji's research focuses on advancing bioactive, bioresorbable composites that she developed, by loading them with autologous cells to negate rejection issues for later implantation. Currently, she is establishing and maintaining 3D dynamic cultures to validate tissue-in-a-tube models with varied anabolic phenotypes and environments. These models serve as innovative screening tools for evaluating bioactive bioresorbable composites. |
Brief Biography
During her PhD, Suji developed a range of bioactive bioresorbable polymer-ceramic composites that can be manufactured using various methods to produce region-specific (composition) and personalised (3D printed) implants. The findings demonstrated that the mechanical properties and utility of osteogenic composites can be tailored via appropriate selection of filler formulation and manufacturing processes to expand the various demands of bio-resorbable composites for musculoskeletal therapies. She conducted comprehensive cell culture testing, mechanical assessments, and degradation studies in alignment with Medical Devices Guideline.
