Research interests are primarily in linking failure of solids across a range of length and timescales: from slow to fast dynamics, from discrete to continuum mechanics Current research efforts are oriented towards developing understanding, in the form of theoretical and numerical models, for the dynamic failure of hybrid micro and nano-reinforced materials. The idea is to predict the mechanical properties of advanced materials under extreme conditions and to retrofit this information to designers and manufacturers.
Materials of interest are ceramics, metals, composites and soft solids.
