Expertise: Laminar-turbulent transition of complex fluid flows, stability theory, experimental boundary-layer studies, direct numerical simulation of boundary-layer flows.

Brief Biography

Rebecca Lingwood graduated from the University of Cambridge in 1992 and after completing her PhD (1995) and moving first on to a Maudslay Research Fellowship in Engineering and then a Royal Society Dorothy Hodgkin Research Fellowship in Cambridge. She then held a number of posts in Oxford, including Director of Continuing Professional Development and Deputy Director of the Oxford University Department for Continuing Education, before returning to the University of Cambridge in 2009 to become Director of the Institute of Continuing Education, and Warden of Madingley Hall. During this period, on behalf of Cambridge Universality Health Partners (CUHP), she had a leading role in the establishment of the new University Technical College (UTC) Cambridge, which focuses on biomedical and environmental science and technology. She was also an elected member of the University Council.

In September 2015, Rebecca Lingwood became Vice-Principal (Student Experience, Teaching & Learning) and Professor of Fluid Dynamics at Queen Mary University of London.
