Brief Biography
Dr Poppy O. Smith is a Postdoctoral Research Assistant in the Iskratsch Lab of the School of Engineering and Materials Science at Queen Mary University of London. Her research focuses on mechanotransduction in cardiac disease. Poppy completed her PhD on the BBSRC-funded London Interdisciplinary Doctoral Programme, in which she developed engineered nerve tissue containing hiPSC-derived endothelial cells. Prior to joining QMUL, Poppy was a Research Fellow at UCL School of Pharmacy, where she applied tissue engineering to the production of angiogenesis models. Poppy is also an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and actively engages in public outreach and patient-led research initiatives.
