Brief Biography

My background is in colloid and surface chemistry. I joined BP to work in the Colloid Fundamentals team where I stayed for 6 years before moving into the Upstream part of the organisation. Overall I have 32 years of experience, working on multiple chemically-related topics which led to the filing of 43 patents.
I have been an honorary professor at at Heriot Watt since 2004 where I give a course on waterflood Enhanced Oil Recovery methods to the reservoir engineering students. I have also co-supervised a number of PhD students and sit on two professorial chair steering committees.
I was Executive Editor of the SPE Production & Operations Journal from 2014-2017.
