Brief Biography

Academic Leader with over 25 years of experience in global higher education and senior positions in industry. Offering expertise in senior management, teaching, applied research, student-centred pedagogies and internationalising higher education. Andrew has had a diverse career spanning both leading academic institutions as well as senior roles in a wide range of industrial sectors. He currently holds the position of Reader within the School of Engineering and Materials Science at Queen Mary University of London and Director (industry) Centre for Research in Engineering and Materials Education. His main teaching and administrative responsibilities focus on the schools' programmes in Xi'an, China.

Before joining QMUL Andrew led the Materials, Metallurgy, Corrosion, Integrity and Failure Investigation teams for Wood plc across Asia. Prior to joining Wood Andrew was the Head of the Department of Mechanical, Materials and Engineering, Director of Studies and Associate Professor for the University of Nottingham. During his time Andrew helped build the Universities Malaysian Campus and develop its overseas teaching operations.
