Makerspace Orientation & Induction
Before accessing The Makerspace, please make sure you have first completed the following before signing up :
- Read the SEMS Health & Safety Handbook
- General Safety induction and Quiz
- SEMS Lab H&S induction and Quiz
- Fire awareness training (HS012)
- First Aid for Lab workers training (HS042).
You can access these courses on the QM-Plus training platform, here : https://qmplus.qmul.ac.uk/
- Log in using your QM credentials
- Click search and type 'SEMS Health and Safety' - ensure that the 'all modules' tab is selected and select the course
- Enroll on the course and complete the relevant sections

When you have met the pre-requisites for the Makerspace Orientation, please sign up using the sign up sheet found here.
Orientations are conducted on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 9:30am and on Fridays at 3pm.
This scheduling is subject to change. If there are no orientations planned, please email makerspace@qmul.ac.uk to arrange a booking.
Orientations sessions normally take up to 1 hour to complete for up to 5 participants per session. Please make sure you have your certificates with you for inspection (either digitally as a PDF or a print out).
Machine Shop Induction
Before using any of the machinery in The Makerspace machine room (Bandsaw, Pillar drill etc.) All lab users must first complete a Makerspace Orientation & induction and signed a declaration which has been signed off by one of the technicians.
We run x2 Machine shop induction sessions a week, Mondays and Fridays at 10am. This scheduling is subject to change. Inductions take up to 3 hours to complete and can be given to up to 5 participants per session. You can sign up at via the link below:
