SEMS Seminar Series: Prof Weisi Guo, Cranfield University
Date: | Wednesday 5 March 2025 14:00 - 15:00 |
Location: | SEMS Seminar Room |
Dear all,
We are delighted to invite you to attend a talk by Prof Weisi Guo from University of Sheffield as part of SEMS seminar series.
This talk will be entitled “Future of Trustworthy Autonomous Systems (TAS) and 6th Generation (6G) Telecommunications”.
The first part of the talk centres around TAS: UK funded one of the world’s largest Trustworthy Autonomy programmes under 1 TAS hub and several TAS nodes. I co-led the TAS node on cybersecurity at Cranfield, and this talk will cover some of the key innovations developed, including identifying new forms of attack from intelligent electromagnetic meta-surfaces, developing new forms of swarm control physics driven encryption, and context aware navigation using LLMs. My group won 2 RAEng fellowships in advancing this work to develop trustworthy inference of autonomous system intentions and improving TAS cyber anti-fragility. The second part of the talk centres around 6G, introducing the CHEDDAR hub that I co-lead at Cranfield and our work in using LLMs to automate 6G specification, graph theoretical verification of ORAN policies, and improving the energy efficiency of mixed bit precision over-the-air computation.
Weisi obtained his MEng, MA, and PhD degrees from the University of Cambridge. From 2012 to 2019, he built an award-winning team at the University of Warwick and was a Turing Fellow. He is now head of the Human Machine Intelligence group at Cranfield University. He has published over 150 journal papers, including: a Nature commentary, Nature Comm., and several cover issues in Royal Society and Nature Machine Intelligence. He has been PI on over £8m and an investigator on over £35m of research funding. He currently co-lead EPSRC 6G Future Communications Hub on Distributed Computing, EPSRC Trustworthy Autonomous Systems Security Node. He currently serve as editor on several IEEE & Royal Society journals. He has been an IET Innovation Award winner and been a runner-up in the Bell Labs Prize three times.
The seminar will be in person at SEMS Seminar Room on Wednesday 5th March 2025 at 14:00 - 15:00. This will be followed by a network event coffee/biscuits are served.
We look forward to seeing you all there.
