The project will examine tyre wear particle formation mechanisms. This will be achieved through experiments, computational modelling and mathematical modelling. A combination of abrasion and chemical characterisation experiments will be undertaken to provide the basis to pursue the modelling of tyre wear particle generation. The scientific findings will be instrumental in the design of next generation sustainable tyre tread compounds.
