Marya Graoui: Robotics Engineering
I selected Queen Mary for my course due to its outstanding research facilities, and unique status as one of the few Russell Group universities offering Robotics Engineering at the undergraduate level. Staying in London was a priority for me, and Queen Mary's diverse range of undergraduate courses is truly remarkable. The variety of programmes available ensured that I could find one that aligns perfectly with my future aspirations.
This programme has equipped me with an exceptional set of fundamental skills highly sought after by employers. What sets this degree apart is its versatility, combining Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and AI/Computer Science, paving the way for a multitude of opportunities post-graduation. The course is not only enjoyable but also easy to get into, creating a positive atmosphere that I grew very fond of.
The dedicated lecturers, especially during my first year, played a crucial role in my academic journey. They provided valuable support through targeted sessions for students struggling with specific subjects (e.g. mathematics).
Reflecting on my student life at Queen Mary, I can confidently say that it has been a perfect fit for me. The diverse environment eased my initial worries about making friends while commuting from home. The campus offered a variety of activities, all conveniently located in one place. As a Muslim, having access to halal food almost everywhere on campus made my life significantly easier. The university's proximity to central London facilitated easy exploration of the city during my free time. The abundance of societies available made it easy to meet people of similar interests and to try out new hobbies.
While many memories have been created during my three years at Queen Mary, what stands out the most are the lifelong friendships I've made. These connections have truly enriched my university experience and will undoubtedly stay with me for a lifetime. Queen Mary has been more than just an educational institution; it has been a nurturing community that has shaped both my academic and personal growth.
