The Science and Engineering Faculty Celebration took place in the Octagon to a large assembled in person gathering and was broadcast simultaneously online to an even larger audience on the 27th January 2022.

SEMS had a very large number of the awards with Andrew Spowage winning the Faculty Award for Internationalisation for his role in delivering world class transnational education using on-line teaching for all of our students in the Queen Mary Engineering School in Xian, China as well as for his tremendous effort in securing accreditation from the IOM3 for the first time for all of our Materials programmes in China as well as a reaccreditation of the programmes delivered in London. The Faculty Research Excellence Award was presented to Himadri Gupta (SEMS) not only for his continued research excellence but also for his effective leadership as the Director of Graduate Studies supporting all our PhD students with distinction. We received two team awards for the Faculty Student Experience and Education. These were for the team who have developed the new maths module and innovated significantly with our maths delivery approach. This team included: Wei Tan, Andrew Buchan, Guang Li and Angadh Nanjangud. A second award was given to the team of Rafa Castrejón, Oliver Fenwick, Hicham Adjali, Tomas Lukas, Saqib Jivani, Mouna Chetehouna and Adrian Briggs for pioneering our new lab based first semester module and for delivering an enriching experience to an unexpectedly large cohort of first year students. The Faculty Award for Equality, Diversity and Inclusion was presented to Tina Chowdhury for her outstanding contributions to outreach and skills development as well as for her proactive support of the Athena Swann agenda in the school.

Congratulations to all of our winning colleagues for all of their excellent contributions to the success of the school.
