The SEMS Industrial Advisory Board (IAB) met on Tuesday 5th November to discuss our taught programmes and delivery of skills training. It was attended by 14 members of our IAB along with SEMS staff and members of our Student Voice Committee.

Topics for discussion included skills development on our Design Innovation & Creative Engineering (DICE) programme; and industry links and relevant skills on our new MSc in Advanced Chemical Engineering. There was also an open discussion on the use of Artificial Intelligence in engineering companies and how their engineers interact with AI.

Four representatives of the SEMS Student Voice Committee engaged in the discussions and also asked the board whether the engineering job market was becoming saturated. The answer to this was a resounding “no” from the board and a discussion followed on how students can make their CVs and job applications stand out.

The IAB meets twice per year and the next meeting will be on 5th March 2025.
