Undergraduate Student Recruitment and A-level results

21 August 2026

This year has seen a record number of students applying join our various undergraduate programmes in SEMS, and when A-level results were released last week, we were able to offers places to most of these students.

Students who did not get their preferred choice were able to apply to SEMS, and the phone lines were busy from 8 AM on results day with more students applying to join us. We were able to make many more offers to students, which was only possible with the help of several people who volunteered, talking to students and helping assess their applications, including Kshitij Sabnis, Stefaan Verbruggen, Chris Chapman, Karen Shoop, Shade Akinmolyan Taiwo, Declan Carolan, Hicham Adjali, Thil Lalitharatne, Helen Green, Hulya Biler, Nikos Bempedelis, Mouna Chetahouna and Jae-Hwan Park. Kerry Evans and Ayden Wilkes also did a great job managing a team of student ambassadors who called up offer-holders to encourage them to accept and join us.

This year has seen a really strong recruitment cycle, with growth in almost all programmes, in particular in some of our smaller programmes like Materials, DICE and Biomedical. This puts the school in a more sustainable place financially.

We are continuing to see growing interest in our undergraduate programmes both from UK and international students. This shows both SEMS' growing reputation and the efforts people have put in throughout the year to deliver exciting and engaging activities at Open Days, Offer Holder Days and other events. So thank you to everyone who contributed!
