Dr Marco Pensalfini was invited to present insights from his research on “Multiscale mechanics of cytoskeletal filament networks” as part of the 3rd Workshop on the Mechanics of BioNetwork in Boulder, CO.

The event was hosted Prof Franck Vernerey (CU Boulder), Prof Taher Saif (UIUC), and Prof Catalin Picu (RPI), who are leading figures in the field. It brought together 70 international experts on biological and engineered materials whose structural organisation relies on mechanical, biomechanical, and mechanobiological networks. The meeting lasted 3 days and was concluded by a hike to the beautiful Flatiron mountains. Its goals were to develop a common language, spark new collaboration opportunities, identify grand challenges and influence funding policies by engaging with NSF programme directors.

Many thanks to the organisers for bringing us together and to CU Boulder for hosting this great initiative!
