Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifah, and through a personal invitation extended by Her Excellency Sheikha Dwa bint Khalid Al Khalifah, Chairwoman of the Lamea Association, Queen Mary University of London’s School of Engineering and Materials Science (SEMS) was proudly represented by Dr Mouna Chetehouna. The invitation was extended in recognition of SEMS’s commitment to educational excellence and Dr Chetehouna’s work in advancing innovative approaches to engineering education.

Representing SEMS, Dr Chetehouna delivered a lecture titled 'AI and Human Judgment in Harmony: Building Intelligent Ecosystems for the Future of Professional Learning.' The lecture formed part of the Lamea Association’s national project, conducted under royal patronage to expand international partnerships and foster cooperation with leading global institutions. The event was attended by Her Excellency Sheikha Dwa bint Khalid Al Khalifah, members of the Association’s management and board, and a distinguished audience of young professionals under 35 who have excelled across academic, professional, and community fields.

Participants included representatives from major national organisations such as BAPCO Energies, Bahrain Institute of Banking and Finance (BIBF), alongside emerging leaders from diverse sectors. The session explored how artificial intelligence and human judgment can work together to create intelligent, ethical, and adaptive professional ecosystems for the future.

This collaboration reflects the shared vision of Queen Mary University of London and the Kingdom of Bahrain to empower the next generation through education, innovation, and global engagement. It also aligns with QMUL’s 2030 Strategy, which places international reach and meaningful cross-border partnerships at the heart of the university’s mission. The event marks an important step in strengthening academic and research connections between SEMS and Bahrain’s dynamic professional community.

The visit was organised by Queen Mary alumna Ms. Dabya al- Rafaei, General Manager of the Lamea Association, whose efforts ensured the successful delivery of this engagement.

Dr Chetehouna expressed her appreciation for the honour of the invitation and the warm hospitality extended throughout her visit, noting that the alignment between Queen Mary’s global outlook and Bahrain’s national aspirations creates powerful opportunities for future collaboration.
