Dr Rehan Shah has been awarded Senior Fellowship (SFHEA) of UK Advance HE through Queen Mary's Teaching Recognition Programme administered by the Queen Mary Academy. The award of Senior Fellowship is typically suitable for experienced staff able to demonstrate impact and influence through, for example, responsibility for leading, managing or organising programmes, subjects and/or disciplinary areas, experienced subject mentors and staff who support those new to teaching and/or experienced staff with School and/or wider teaching and learning support advisory responsibilities across the university.

Dr Shah was able to achieve the award at an accelerated pace since joining Queen Mary, at an exceptionally early stage in comparison to traditional applicants from the university. The panel as part of their feedback noted how his application "effectively evidenced sustained leadership and influence across an appropriate time span through descriptions of examples of practice that exemplify how he has developed practice, engaged with challenges, and created inclusive teaching and learning through modelling, leading, and mentoring others."

They also commented on how "all dimensions of the UK Professional Standards Framework were addressed with concrete outcomes with qualitative feedback indicating effectiveness of practice." Moreover, they highlighted how inclusivity was apparent in numerous aspects of Dr Shah's work, most notably his scholarship. They finally stated that "there is clear evidence of reflection and impact on others is evident at different scales, for example, individuals, specific teaching teams, and Faculty within and beyond the institution."

Dr Shah will continue to inspire and guide other applicants through the significant milestone of acquiring appropriate stages of Fellowship of UK Advance HE by taking on the role of being an application reviewer and personal mentor for colleagues across QMUL.
