As part of the Science & Engineering Faculty’s mission to transfer horizons for all students, the School Management Team are delighted to report that SEMS have won four S&E Summer Research Internships for BAME Undergraduate Students.

Following a rigorous selection process examining the quality of the applications and project statements, as well as the level of supervisory support and mentorship that will be provided during the 8-week internships, the winning SEMS interns start work with us on Monday 14th June.

The winning interns are: Nilofar Taraki (Supervisor: Dr Ahmed Ismail), Cheshna Hosabettu (Supervisor: Dr Petra Szilagyi), Laila Yachkouri (Supervisor: Professor Liz Tanner) and Tania Dandachli (Supervisor: Professor Marin Knight).

Each of the interns has been invited to attend an IBM-sponsored enrichment programme, and a short on-campus introduction and welcome address from the Vice-Principal for Research, Professor Andrew Livingston. Following their induction, the interns join a development programme taking place in-person, every Wednesday afternoon starting next week.

Our congratulations to Nilofar, Cheshna, Laila and Tania on winning their places on the Science & Engineering Summer Research Internships programme and we look forward to hearing about their results in the coming weeks.
