Engineer Your Story with AI

A workshop to inspire the STEAMM community by showcasing diversity as role models and encouraging engineers to explore careers in AI and industry.

At the workshop, you will develop AI skills, reflecting industry demand and the potential to improve healthcare systems across the life course.

You will work with award winning BBC broadcaster, journalist Sue Nelson, partners from the Ideas Foundation and creative tech industry (Edge Gain). You will learn how to use AI tools for confidence building for research, innovation, promoting inclusivity and employability in the workplace for public engagement.

Award Winning speakers

Sue is an award-winning broadcaster, writer and journalist. She co-hosts the Space Boffins and Counting the Earth podcasts, makes short films on science and produces/presents radio documentaries for BBC World Service. The former BBC TV News Science & Environment correspondent's mixture of expertise, humour and sharp insight makes her a popular voice across a range of science-related subjects. She also wrote the award-winning Wally Funk's Race for Space, an intimate and original portrait of a pioneering woman aviator in the early days of the space race, and is currently writing a book on autism and empathy. As a physics graduate Sue can share her journey and the skills developed along the way to achieve career success in journalism.

Greg Hodgson is a creative tech expert and founder of Edge Gain. Greg works in the UK and US on behalf of adobe. He is an expert in showing how a range of powerful content creating tools can be used to tell stories. He is a witty speaker who knows inside out the good, the bad and ugly of generative creation. You will leave the talk with a range of tools, how they can enhance your work and an awareness of the pitfalls and bias that can be created without thoughtful use.

This event is funded by the Convocation Trust and our work will be celebrated during National Careers Week, International Women’s Day and the SEMS Skills & Employability Week.
