Dr Deepshikha has been recognised as a Google for Education Higher Education Faculty AI Fellow for her contributions to responsible artificial intelligence (AI) innovation in teaching, learning, and assessment.

The Google for Education Higher Education Faculty AI Fellowship Institute celebrated the recognition on 23 October 2026 at Google's London headquarters. The event brought together higher education academics, researchers, and innovators to explore AI's transformative potential in education and exchange ideas on its responsible adoption.

As part of the Fellowship Institute, Dr Deepshikha was invited to present her work on EduGrade AI, an innovative AI-powered assessment and feedback platform developed at Queen Mary. The platform aims to address one of the most time-consuming challenges facing educators: delivering timely, high-quality and personalised feedback to students.

EduGrade AI uses generative AI to produce rubric-aligned draft feedback and indicative scores while ensuring that educators retain full responsibility for reviewing, validating and approving assessment outcomes.

The Fellowship Institute also offered interdisciplinary discussions, practical workshops, and networking with educators and AI specialists across the higher education sector. Dr Deepshikha was formally presented with her Higher Education Faculty AI Fellowship certificate, recognising her commitment to shaping the future of higher education through AI innovation.

Reflecting on the experience, Dr Deepshikha said:

"It is an honour to be recognised as a Google for Education Higher Education Faculty AI Fellow and to be part of a community committed to transforming higher education through responsible AI innovation.

The Fellowship Institute provided an excellent opportunity to exchange ideas and share our work on EduGrade AI. I strongly believe that AI should empower educators rather than replace their professional judgement. Our goal is to make assessment and feedback more efficient, consistent and meaningful while keeping educators firmly in control."
