Dr Deepshikha, from the School of Engineering and Materials Science (SEMS), has been awarded a Queen Mary Academy Fellowship focused on AI in Education as part of the University’s Curriculum 2030 programme.

The fellowship comes as Queen Mary begins implementing its new AI in Assessment taxonomy in the 2026/27 academic year. Working with the Queen Mary Academy and colleagues across Schools, Institutes and Faculties, Dr Deepshikha will support programme teams in developing AI literacy and enhancing curriculum and assessment design. She will provide practical guidance to help educators integrate AI thoughtfully into teaching and learning.

The selection panel noted that her application strongly aligned with the fellowship's aims, particularly its emphasis on supporting programme teams and creating institutional impact.

“AI is already changing how our students learn and how we assess them, and programme teams need practical, discipline-aware support to respond well,” said Dr Deepshikha. “I’m delighted to join the Queen Mary Academy Fellows community, and I look forward to working with colleagues across the University to put the AI in Assessment framework into practice in ways that protect academic standards and genuinely benefit students.”

The appointment builds on Dr Deepshikha’s work in AI-enhanced assessment and feedback, including the development of EduMark AI, which supports educators in producing rubric-aligned feedback while retaining academic oversight. Through the fellowship, she will share effective practice and build staff confidence in using AI, supporting Curriculum 2030’s ambition to deliver a consistently excellent education for all Queen Mary students.
