Queen Mary AI Assessment Innovation Selected for Google for Startups Immersion EMEA 2026
13 October 2026

EduGrade AI, an AI-enabled assessment and feedback platform developed by Dr Deepshikha at the School of Engineering and Materials Science (SEMS), Queen Mary University of London, has been selected for Phase 1 of Google for Startups Immersion EMEA 2026, powered by Antler.
The international programme brings together AI innovators from across Europe, the Middle East and Africa, offering opportunities to engage with Google experts, participate in technical masterclasses and collaborate with fellow innovators.
EduGrade AI aims to enhance assessment and feedback in higher education through responsible, educator-controlled artificial intelligence. The platform generates rubric-aligned feedback and indicative marks, while educators retain full control over final assessment decisions.
This selection adds to EduGrade AI’s growing international recognition.
Dr Deepshikha said: “I am delighted that EduGrade AI has been selected for this international programme. It is a valuable opportunity to learn from leading AI experts, exchange ideas and explore how responsible AI can give educators more time for meaningful feedback, while keeping their professional judgement at the heart of assessment.”
The achievement reflects SEMS’s continued contribution to educational innovation and the responsible use of emerging technologies in higher education.
