The 17th IEEE International Conference on Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (ICMAE 2026) welcomed over 140 delegates to Queen Mary University of London from 15–18 July. More than 100 papers were presented, covering advances across mechanical and aerospace engineering.

The School of Engineering and Materials Science (SEMS) featured prominently in the programme. Professor Huasheng Wang of SEMS delivered the keynote talk, “Modelling and Optimisation of Condensers with Liquid-Vapor Separation”. Professor Dr Khadijeh Mohri, a QMUL Aerospace Engineering graduate, gave an invited talk on 3D tomographic imaging of reacting and non-reacting flows. Two SEMS MEng and BEng student teams also presented their research on aeroelastic modelling and wing vibration measurements.

The conference demonstrated the School and University’s international appeal as an academic centre for high-quality engineering conferences. The local organising committee was led by Dr Eldad Avital. Special thanks go to all SEMS students who provided excellent support, particularly Denis Kuropatkin, Sam Al-Jaboby, Anuhya Kotakadi and Dahir Moallim.
