Several MSc Engineering Management students participated in the networking reception held on 13th November at Club Quarters – Trafalgar Square, as part of the Explort postgraduate exploratory mission to London organised by the Walloon Export and Foreign Investment Agency (AWEX) and Explort.

The reception brought together postgraduate students, international delegates, and industry experts. Our students engaged actively with participants from Belgium and gained insights into European academic pathways, international career trends, and the broader landscape of global trade and investment. They also had the opportunity to connect classroom concepts—such as regulatory alignment, post-Brexit trade dynamics, and export-support mechanisms—to real-world practice.

Students shared highly positive experiences and highlighted the supportive presence of Dr Jae-Hwan Park, who facilitated introductions and encouraged meaningful discussions throughout the event. Selected reflections include:

Student 1:
“The event helped us understand Belgium’s job market and opportunities, and the interactions with business experts were particularly valuable. Dr Park’s encouragement made networking comfortable and engaging.”

Student 2:
“Speaking with Belgian postgraduate students provided a comparative perspective on European academic and career paths. Conversations with industry experts helped me understand post-Brexit trade realities, regulatory frameworks, and cross-border supply chain challenges.”

Student 3:
“I learned a great deal about different academic journeys and cultural perspectives. The event was inspiring and expanded my professional network.”

Overall, the reception provided a meaningful opportunity for students to strengthen their global awareness, communication skills, and confidence in international settings. The School looks forward to supporting further high-impact international engagements.
