21 November 2025

On 21st November, Professor Jae-Hwan Park chaired a high-level virtual meeting with senior representatives from the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP), the National Information and Technology Centre of Kazakhstan (NITEC Kazakhstan), and the National Information Society Agency of Korea (NIA Korea). The meeting brought together key public-sector institutions to advance the joint process for cross-border data transactions between Korea and Kazakhstan.
During the session, Dr Park facilitated discussions on the technical foundations, institutional roles, and governance mechanisms required to develop a trusted, secure, and operational framework for data transactions. These discussions play a pivotal role in shaping emerging digital cooperation pathways in Central Asia. This initiative is a central component of Dr Park’s broader international research programme on cross-border data governance and digital frameworks across the region.
The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to outline next steps and coordinate follow-up actions. Additional updates will be provided as the collaboration progresses.
