On Thursday 6th November Dr Jae Hwan Park chaired and facilitated a bilateral meeting on Cross-Border Data Transactions between the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Republic of Korea, held at the United Nations ESCAP Headquarters in Bangkok.

The meeting was convened under the UNESCAP initiative to strengthen digital cooperation across Central Asia and Korea. It brought together key stakeholders from Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Digital Technologies, the State Committee for Tourism, and Korea’s National Information Society Agency (NIA) to explore opportunities for data-driven collaboration in the tourism sector.

The discussion centered on the coordination of tourism data pilots, institutional communication channels, and procedures for data exchange under trusted governance frameworks. Dr Park emphasized the importance of legal interoperability, data protection, and institutional readiness to ensure practical and sustainable implementation.

The outcomes of this session are expected to support the establishment of a regional model for cross-border data transactions and contribute to broader digital connectivity and innovation across the participating countries.
