StaticDrive: the mechano-electro-mechanic power transmission
Can tiny amounts of harvested energy be used to drive precise actuators?
Their "StaticDrive" technology has just been published in Nano Energy. It transfers small amounts of mechanical energy directly through a thin wire to an actuator tip in real time, without the need for batteries or gears.
By combining an advanced triboelectric nanogenerator, which captures small-scale motion energy, with electro-ribbon actuators, StaticDrive opens new possibilities for precise manipulation in hard-to-reach environments, including both medical and industrial applications.
