11 September 2025

Dr Mouna Chetehouna presented her work on 'Innovating Assessments: A Framework for Authentic, Industry-Driven Professional Education' at the 5th Birmingham Business School Education Conference. Her presentation was a key part of the conference's Authentic Pedagogy track, a program dedicated to discussing genuine, real-world learning approaches. The conference, which brought together leading educators from around the world, addressed several critical issues in the sector. These included:
- The implications of university rankings
- Employer perspectives on the preparedness of new graduates for the workplace
- The integration of AI-enhanced environments
- The National Student Survey
Dr Chetehouna’s presentation offered solutions to key sectoral challenges by proposing a framework for innovative, industry-driven assessments. Her research substantiates that the implementation of authentic assessment modalities, designed to mirror professional tasks, has a demonstrable impact on student engagement, academic outcomes, and post-graduation employability. The findings suggest that this methodological shift not only enhances the intrinsic value of academic programmes but also strategically aligns educational delivery with the expectations of both students and future employers.
