Congratulations to Dr Yufei Wang and Dr Xuechun Wang, who successfully presented their latest AI related research at the first UK AI Research Symposium (UKAIRS) in Newcastle on 8th and 9th September 2025.

Yufei and Xuechun, both funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC), are members of Professor Lei Su’s group within the Centre for Bioengineering, School of Engineering and Materials Science (SEMS). The group’s work is internationally recognised for advancing imaging and sensing technologies integrated with artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning.

Their presentations were very well received, attracting significant interest from participants representing a wide range of disciplines across the UK AI research community.

UKAIRS aims to bring together researchers from a diversity of disciplines including computer science, engineering, social sciences and humanities, with the goal of shaping the UK’s research priorities, identifying cross-fertilisation opportunities, and informing the narrative around the challenges to delivering AI that benefits society and the economy.
