30 January 2025

On Tuesday 21st January undergraduate SEMS students visited the 3M UK head office in Bracknell. 3M are a science-based technology company that is committed to improving lives and doing business in the right way - they have been listed as a World's Most Ethical Company for nine years in succession.
Student Anu Ogunjinrin, BEng Materials Science & Engineering stated:
"A few days ago I had the incredible opportunity to visit 3M. This visit gave me a deeper appreciation for how innovation and cutting edge research drive real world solutions in diverse industries. During the visit we got to look inside 3M’s innovation centre filled with break throughs in materials science. It was inspiring to see how 3M fosters an environment of continuous learning and innovation.
Final year Aerospace Engineering student Mohamedamin Mohamed enjoyed the visit:
"It was eye-opening to learn about the wide range of solutions they’ve created, including products I hadn’t realised were 3M inventions—like the original Post-it Notes! I also learned about their unique 15% Culture, which encourages employees to dedicate a portion of their work time to proactively cultivate and pursue innovative ideas that excite them. This approach fosters a culture where creativity and problem-solving thrive to address real-world challenges."
