Dr Folashade A. Taiwo's collaboration published in Handbook for Engineering Ethics Teaching
17 January 2025

Dr Folashade A. Taiwo's work on ethics in education has been featured in a new book, The Routledge International Handbook of Engineering Ethics Education.
Written alongside her collaborators Professor Emanuela Tilley from UCL, Professor Nienke Nieveen from Eindhoven University of Technology and Dr Christina Boshuijzen van Burken from the University of New South Wales, their chapter is called chapter 'Aspirations for ethical education in engineering curricula envisioned through the quality lens of Goodlad's typology'.
They argue that the incorporation of engineering ethics into curriculum helps to ensure that engineers not only possess technical expertise, but also the moral compass needed to navigate the complexities of modern engineering challenges.
Packed with valuable research on teaching engineering students about ethics, the book was published on December 4th 2024. It has six sections:
- Foundations of engineering ethics education
- Interdisciplinary contributions to engineering ethics education
- Ethical issues in different engineering disciplines
- Teaching methods in engineering ethics educatiom
- Assessment in engineering ethics education
- Accreditation and engineering ethics education
Each section offers varying approaches to incorporating ethics into the engineering curriculum from various perspectives, including incorporation at modular or programme level.
