On Wednesday 11th and Thursday 12th December, MSc students enrolled in Engineering Project Management module, led by module organiser Dr Jae-Hwan Park, visited the construction site of Queen Mary University of London's new School of Business and Management.

This state-of-the-art facility, prominently located at the East Gate of the Mile End Campus and overlooking the Regent's Canal, is being designed to deliver high-quality academic and research spaces, tailored teaching areas, and collaborative study environments. The project reflects the university’s commitment to providing cutting-edge facilities for both staff and students.

During the visit, students participated in interactive sessions with site engineers, where they discussed key aspects of project management, including scheduling, cost control, quality assurance, and contract management. These engaging discussions offered students a unique opportunity to bridge the gap between theoretical concepts taught in class and the practical challenges of managing a complex construction project.

This insightful visit was made possible thanks to the support of Gerry Ackerman, Programme Lead for the School of Business and Management. On both days, Mr Ackerman kindly introduced and guided the site tours, enriching the students' understanding of the project. Feedback from students highlighted the visit's immense value, as they gained practical insights and a deeper appreciation of the intricacies involved in large-scale project management.
