Ameer Zaki wins Best UK Materials Graduate Award from the IOM3
5 December 2024

At the IOM3 Awards Ceremony on 5 December 2024, Ameer Zaki, a recent Materials Science graduate, was honored with the IOM3 Award for Excellence, presented to the best BEng graduate in the UK. He also received the prestigious IOM3 Royal Charter Prize, awarded to the standout candidate among all student winners. Notably, Ameer is the third Queen Mary Materials graduate to achieve this accolade, following Daniel Mills in 2021 and Adaeze Siwoniku in 2018.
Ameer gained valuable research experience through a Queen Mary-funded project, collaborating with Dr Maria Crespo-Ribadeneyra and the Tyre Collective; the results of this work are set to be published in an academic journal. During his degree, he further broadened his horizons by participating in a study abroad programme at the University of Toronto, where he achieved the highest marks in his cohort.
Ameer is now pursuing a PhD at Leeds University, where he will be supervised by Dr Man Zhang, another alumnus of Queen Mary University of London.
Huge congratulations to Ameer!
