Dr Jae-Hwan Park presents groundbreaking AI and Data Sharing Strategy at Asia-Pacific Ministerial Conference

On Wednesday 4th September 2024, Dr Jae-Hwan Park delivered a compelling presentation on 'AI and Data Sharing Strategy for Central Asia' at the side event, Facilitating AI and Data Sharing Cooperation in Asia and the Pacific Region, during the Asia-Pacific Ministerial Conference on Digital Inclusion and Transformation, held in Astana, Kazakhstan.
The conference, organised by the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) and the Government of Kazakhstan, brought together government leaders, ministers from across Asia and the Pacific, and key stakeholders from around the world to discuss a blueprint for regional cooperation, essential for accelerating digital innovation for sustainable development.
Dr Park's presentation attracted considerable attention, highlighting the transformative impact of AI and digitalisation on the region's economies and governance. The strategy he outlined offered innovative insights into enhancing data-sharing practices to promote digital inclusion and economic growth in Central Asia from a Systems Engineering perspective. In addition to his presentation, Dr Park conducted interviews with policymakers from various countries to gauge their interest and better understand their demands and perspectives on this agenda.
Through his work with the UNESCAP project, Dr Park, alongside his colleague Jee-Yeon, is committed to developing an efficient policy framework for data sharing tailored to the needs of AI and digitalisation in the region. This pioneering research is expected to influence both domestic and international policy, fostering advancements in digital cooperation and technological integration across Central Asia.
