SEMS MENG project group members accepted for CUBESAT Concurrent Engineering Workshop at ESA

22 January 2024

SEMs is pleased to report that 3 out 7 of a MENG Project group, Hamza Maljee; Emil Sieciechowicz; Kevin Zyka, were accepted into the ESA CubeSats Engineering Workshop! It is scheduled to take place between Tuesday, February 20th to Friday, February 23rd.

The award is from ESA, to the students, to support their MENG project entitled Design Build & Test of a CUBESAT for Asteroid Deflection (Project APO-PHISHING). The students are now invited to attend the CubeSat Concurrent Engineering Workshop in February 2024. It is a four-day workshop to be held at ESA Academy’s Training and Learning Facility in ESEC-Galaxia, Belgium, and is limited to 30 invited students from all over Europe. All expenses included.

SEMS QMUL was fortunate in securing 3 places at the ESA sponsored CUBESAT Concurrent Engineering workshop.
The ESA Academy Training and Learning Facility (TLF) is a facility of the ESA Education Office dedicated to hosting 4-5 day training sessions for university students. The training sessions, in different fields of expertise, are delivered by ESA and external experts. The TLF is located in the ESA Education Training Centre, ESEC-Galaxia, Belgium and features a training room and an educational Concurrent Design Facility, or CDF. This is an integrated professional system that will allow students to learn what is concurrent engineering and why it is beneficial, to investigate the preliminary design of a space mission – or system – and to gain direct experience of system engineering design.
