Travis Hohenberger has become the latest member of James Busfield's Research Group to pass their PhD exam.

Travis completed his PhD viva on the 26th April defending a thesis entitled, "Prediction of Leakage in Elastomeric Seals for High Pressure Applications." This was the third industrially funded project sponsored by Schlumberger in James’ group. The PhD examiners commented that Travis, "Demonstrated an excellent depth of knowledge and understanding".

Travis has published three journal papers on his work with more in the pipeline and despite recent COVID restrictions he managed to fit in eight conference presentations as well. He has now moved to Houston where he has taken on a role as Well Production Services Manager at Schlumberger. There he can regularly apply the knowledge that he developed throughout his PhD studies.

Schlumberger continues to sponsor projects in the Soft Matter Group with three ongoing PhD projects and we look forward to continuing the collaboration with Dr Travis in the future.
