It was with great relief that Queen Mary University of London was able to restart in person graduation ceremonies for the first time in more than two years at Tobacco Dock in Wapping.

The first celebration for the School of Engineering and Materials Science (SEMS) students was on Monday evening on 17 January for any postgraduate from either 2020 or 2021 plus our 2021 undergraduate cohort. The second celebration in the morning of the Tuesday 18 January was for our 2020 undergraduate cohort.

In total about 450 students participated in the event accompanied by more than 1000 friends and family.

Thank you to all the staff who joined in the celebration and shared time with the graduates and their families, and in particular to Adrian Briggs for all his hard work rehearsing reading out all of our graduates' names. The feedback from those who graduated was universally positive and it was great to hear so many success stories about what our students are now up to after graduation.

Our next series of graduations will take place in July for the 2022 cohorts.
