The Discover Materials initative (https://www.discovermaterials.uk) is a collaboration of ten UK Materials Departments or Schools with the Henry Royce Institute for Advanced Materials in Manchester. Discover Materials will formally launch in Summer 2021 and its aim is encourage more people to think about materials as a subject and thus help to increase the uptake of Materials Science courses at undergraduate level. It will develop materials science activities for schools and science festivals so out to the general public.

The Discover Materials Steering Committee has academics, representatives of major materials companies, the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining and schools. It will meet for the first time on 14th June.
