22 July 2020
The Centre for Predictive in vitro Models (CPM) was officially launched on Wednesday 22nd with an successful virtual symposium. More than 330 registrated attendees joined in to celebrate the occasion, listening to talks and participating in stimulating discussions. Introductory words from the vice principal for the faculty of Science and Engineering, Wen Wang and Prof Martin Knight from the CPM were followed by an international keynote from Professor Jennifer Lewis from Harvard University, as well as a selection of talks from QMUL leaders and junior researchers showcasing their exciting and groundbreaking work in the area of predictive in vitro models.
The CPM aims at developing innovative cell culture models, organoids, microphysiological systems and organ-on-a-chip technologies in order to deliver highest quality discovery science and transformative healthcare solutions. Ongoing research within the Centre is already funded by a large portfolio of grants directly related to the development and use of predictive in vitro models, with a total value over £11M (https://www.cpm.qmul.ac.uk/projects/).
The successful launch and future events (https://www.cpm.qmul.ac.uk/newsandevents/) will enable collaborations between existing and future members of the CPM and especially also our industrial partners (https://www.cpm.qmul.ac.uk/people/affiliates/) and undoubtedly lead to future funding success.
