Frontiers of aeroacoustics research: theory, computation and experiment
The Philosophical Transactions A issue on “Frontiers of aeroacoustics research: theory, computation and experiment” will be available online on 14 October 2019.

Aeroacoustics studies noise generated by aerodynamic flows. Founded on fluid mechanics and applied mathematics, and relying increasingly upon computational modelling, aeroacoustics has grown into a discipline with its own key scientific and technological missions. Understanding and managing aerodynamic noise sources, including those of the conventional aircraft and the new emerging noise sources, such as unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), wind turbines and the forthcoming urban air mobility vehicles, is of importance for developing innovative technologies that reduce noise and mitigate its community impact. This theme issue showcases the recent significant advances in these areas through representative
applications and results.
