At a ceremony in Beijing, John Stark was conferred the title of Guest Professor at Beihang University – also known as BUAA – Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics. The appointment is in formally within the School of Astronautics, in the Department of Space Propulsion. Students from Beihang have been studying at Queen Mary both in Engineering and Materials for some years. A joint research programme of 3.5 million RMB, funded by the Chinese Space Agency (CNSA) supports collaboration in space micro-propulsion development between QMUL and BUAA. The first element of this will be the visit of Prof Tang who will work in the electric propulsion laboratory at QMUL for one year starting in October 2007.
