All new undergraduate students (Foundation, 1st, Direct entry 2nd and Direct entry 3rd) have joined the 2nd year undergraduates in a fun Problem Based Learning (PBL) activity in Week 7 this semester. This PBL is championed by Dr James Busfield and assisted by Ms Jia Ma (teaching assistant). All the students where split into 24 groups and each faced the challenge of building a strong bridge of 60cm out of straws, polyester string and cellophane tape. The result was amazing with the winning bridge (Group 8) withstanding a load of 7kg! Congratulations to all the members in Group 8. In addition, we would like to take this opportunity to thank all members of staff, PhD students and teaching assistants who have helped in this activity.
