Professor Vadgama has a Visiting Commonwealth Fellow for 6 months from Aligarh Muslim University, India – her name is Professor Bilqees Bano. She is a highly respected biochemist and the Fellowship is in recognition of her work on an important set of enzyme inhibitors – the cysteine proteinases.
This is a regulatory system with control over tissue protein degradation, and of relevance to tissue remodelling. Professor Bano will be undertaking structural and activity/kinetic studies whilst with us.
