New Elsevier book showcases biomimetics research in aviation and marine engineering

A new Elsevier book, Biomimetics for Aviation and Marine Applications, has been published, bringing together leading researchers from around the world to explore how nature-inspired engineering can advance aviation and marine technologies.
The volume was edited by Dr Mahadi H. Masud (Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology), Dr Eldad Avital (Queen Mary University of London) and Prof Peter Dabnichki (RMIT University).
The book provides a comprehensive overview of biomimetic principles and their application to aviation and marine engineering, covering topics including bio-inspired aerodynamics and hydrodynamics, underwater and aerial vehicles, fluid-structure interaction, computational modelling, wind energy, robotics and advanced engineering design. It highlights how lessons from nature can inspire more efficient, sustainable and innovative engineering solutions.
The editors acknowledge the outstanding contributions of the chapter authors. Dr Avital expresses his gratitude to Dr Masud for leading the project, Prof Dabnichki for his expertise and support throughout the editorial process, and Prof Aloysius F. Hepp, Series Editor, for his guidance and encouragement in bringing the volume to publication.
The book further strengthens the international standing of the School of Engineering and Materials Science (SEMS) by showcasing its leadership in aerospace and marine engineering research and education, and its commitment to global academic collaboration. It also reflects SEMS' growing contribution to developing innovative engineering solutions that bridge fundamental science and practical applications.
