Prof Kaspar Althoefer appointed Fellow of IEEE

Professor Kaspar Althoefer, Director of the Centre of Excellence for Advanced Robotics @ Queen Mary (ARQ), has been appointed a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).

This is the highest grade of membership to the organisation and acknowledges Prof Althoefer’s ourstanding accomplishments in Electronic Engineering. The IEEE specifically recognise Prof Althoefer’s "contributions to soft robotics and tactile perception with applications in complex environments."

Less than 0.1% of the IEEE’s membership of half-a-million is awarded this honour every year.

With over 500,000 members in more than 190 countries, IEEE is a leading authority on a wide variety of areas in electrical and computer sciences, engineering and related disciplines.

Prof Althoefer said, “I still can’t quite believe it, and I am incredibly honoured. My sincere thanks to everyone who supported my nomination. Particular thanks also to the IEEE Robotics and Automation Society (RAS) for their positive assessment of my nomination.”
