Queen Mary University of London recently had the pleasure of hosting The Big Pitch 2025, delivered in partnership with Engineers Without Borders UK and the RS Group.

The competition invited all Engineers Without Borders student chapters across the UK to pitch innovative projects or event ideas, with seventeen teams entering and the top ten finalists travelling to Queen Mary to present their proposals in person.

A huge congratulations goes to the University of Strathclyde, whose winning idea secured the £1,500 prize fund. Their project will deliver a year-long series of student-led workshops designed to bring sustainable engineering to life, showcasing practical, low-cost technologies that can create real community impact.

Each of the other finalist universities (including Queen Mary) took home £250 in recognition of their impressive concepts and commitment to engineering for global good. Hosting this event was a fantastic experience for the Queen Mary chapter, offering a unique opportunity to connect with like-minded students, celebrate creative thinking, and highlight the importance of engineering with purpose. The team is excited to continue building these collaborations and looks forward to welcoming more national events in the near future.
